Close emoji layer with swipe down

Under Consideration

The way of closing the smiley board is really "non-WRIO" like. You have to tap a button and can't swipe.

My suggestion would be to return to normal keyboard, if you swipe down (again) on the top of the list.

Thanks Leo :)You're right, maybe there is a better solution. I don't know if swipe down is the fastest way though as you first had to scroll to the top.

I mainly use the face emoticons, and I think many others too, so for me that would be an ideal solution and I think it's a really intuitive solution. Maybe a two finger swipe solution could be an idea.

Thanks for the quick response! Really liking the way the app is going. Great work.

No, not a 2-finger swipe. That would just be something else to remember, that would make it too complicated. I think it should be like the rubber-banding effect in Apple apps like Settings, when you swipe down and it bounces back up, but in WRIO, it could happen when you scroll off the top, but on top of the Recents panel, there's the regular keyboard!

Yea it sounds cool and I put this idea on our backlog :)

Maybe it would be better, to slide the emojis to the left or to the right. Thist would always work, no matter how deep into the emojis you are.

Thanks for your feedback and your support! :)

Problem is that the users also should be able to delete and restore. That's why we implemented it this way and added the shortcuts on the left to browser from one category to another.

Ah, yes of course. I forgot about the delete feature.

The delete thing is btw. not implemented consistency. While in emoji mode I can only delete chars one by one. If I leave the finger after swiping it stops deleting. Maybe it's made by mind but not that consistence.

The idea by Leo I like the most. You could maybe show the letter keyboard as a preview while tearing it down. So the user sees what happens. If he swipes back up it stays on the emoli pad. If he keeps it up swiping down he "tears" the letter keyboard. Like Apple made it with the word predections line in the default keyboard

Hi Adrian

Thanks for this interesting idea. We'll have a look. :)

Update: if you activate "back to letters after space", the emoji layer will close with a space (e.g. a swipe right). I'll leave this open because the idea here is slightly different (and probably more intuitive still). Best, David
