Andorid 9 / One UI / S10+ Support

Hey Guys

Going to write this down in englisch, please have mercy.

First of all, i am a huge fan of wrio keyboard ever since watson covered it in an article. I am a proud and happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and have noted a couple of usability improvements. Samsungs One UI allows to remove the navigation bar from the screen and you are able to navigate on your phone via touch gestures those of which overlap gestures on wrio keyboard:

could you add the ability to add margin to the bottom of wrio manually? Right now it's tricky to not accidentally hit the home-button gesture instead of a capital "B". I tried to generally indicate the region of touch-gesture navigation compared to the app:

Lastly: If you ever chose to not use gesture navigation: the navbar of OneUI does only respect dark-mode settings of apps that do support it: Afaik wrio app does not support dark-mode this is why the nav-bar is presented in native grey-color (which just sucks and causes eye-cancer)

Other then that you see the nav-bar overlapping the very bottom row of wrio-keys (though i believe a restart of the chat app would reset the margin.

You would help me a ton if you'd be able to allow to manually set margin to bottom ... i just need a couple of pixel i belief

Hi Felix

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback. About the margin we'll have a look!

About your second question about the navigation bar: it should be based on the current app but not on the keyboard. Did you check if color is different in the same app with other keyboards? Would be very helpful.

Hey Janis

Thank you for coming back to me, i started to believe i am the only galaxy s10 user with wrino as keyboard.

regarding the navigation bar awareness i have attached you two screenshots where you can see that samsungs default keyboard is aware of the darkmode and causes the navbar to be dark whilst wrino isnt:

We'll have a look. Unfortunately there's a possibility that only Samsung is able to change it but we'll try our best. 😊

I urge you, let me add a margin to the bottom. I already try to avoid words with a capital "b" because the app closes to background due to it.

Assuiming you are swiss imagine how horrible it is inside the SBB app to check the train schedules to Bern .....

It would be great to have the margin!

The problem also applies to Samsungs S8. It's so annoying....

We'll invite new beta testers every few days so sometime you have to wait.

But I have good news: We already started to work on this feature. 😁
